France has several standards and specific guidelines for geotechnical structures (foundations). The standards listed below must be followed for this type of work:

  • French standard NF P94-261 15 june 2013
  • Issue N°62 – Title V (superseded)
  • CFMS guidelines « Wind Turbine Foundations »
  • BAEL « Limit states for Reinforced Concrete »

A check from a control office is mandatory according to French regulations. This is valid nationwide.

Among the geotechnical studies and solutions , the most common are :

  • Pressiometric investigations
  • Soil improvement : Rigid inclusions or stone columns
  • Driven piles , bored piles : almost non-existent.

It is necessary to have a ten-year insurance for all companies working in infrastructure projects.
